Organic Food in Osterville

Our trip to Osterville, Cape Cod this weekend was fruitful as we planned our daughter, Mary Jane’s wedding. We think alike, which makes it easy and decisions are made pretty quickly. I have to say, that Osterville is getting more organic, at least when it comes to organic food!

When we visit the Cape, we like to go to our favorite spots including Earthly Delights and The Cheese Shop. Tom and Mary, who run the Earthly Delights, have the best organic food in Osterville. Even better, they have organic food with more variety than I have ever been offered before.

They open for breakfast with organic coffee and muffins and egg sandwiches. that are fabulous. We love to have lunch there where Mary, who is the main chef, has a variety of hot dishes from pizza to quiche to meatloaf and chicken dishes. Tom will make you a salad with more organic vegetables than you can imagine. We often take something home for dinner. I cannot cook such delicious meals!

We have our daily conversation with Tom about organic farming. Our topics include who is “good” and who is “bad” in the organic world. Genetically modified foods and the seeds that ruin farms from neighboring Monsanto farms are debated. Tom tells me to check out the organic farming in Brooklyn. He seems to know a lot about all of this and I always learn more.

The Cheese Shop, which is under new ownership, is now offering organic coffee. They understand that everyone is concerned about their java that keeps them going in the morning. They understand the reasons why

The farmers market will open on the Historical Museum grounds soon. I will be there every Friday, buying organic produce. I usually get my tomatoes, corn and squash at the market. I have a coffee and muffin while I shop and then bring home a wonderful loaf of fresh bread and maybe some brownies or cookies if we have guests.

It is so nice that I can buy organic food in Osterville. It is a special place in many ways, especially when I can have my organic food every day!
